7 DAYS

A six-night, seven-day proposed expedition.

8 PADDLERS

Private crew planning capacity.

$975 / PERSON

$7,800 standard eight-person crew price, before any advertised discount.

THE EXPERIENCE

Not a tour. Your own wilderness adventure.

Paddle remote waterways, set up camp, cook together and experience the North Maine Woods far from ordinary routines. The planned route begins around Churchill Dam and finishes near Allagash Village. Each crew is responsible for its own paddling and wilderness decisions.

This is a serious backcountry undertaking, not a guided beginner excursion. Rapids, portages, cold water, weather, variable water levels and limited communications demand sound preparation.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a guided canoe trip?

No. Basecamp's planned experience is self-guided. Your group paddles, navigates, selects appropriate campsites and manages its own decisions on the water. Basecamp's role is outfitting and prearranged logistics, not on-water guiding.

Where does the expedition start and finish?

The proposed route runs from the Churchill Dam area to Allagash Village. Exact access points, pickup arrangements and the itinerary must be confirmed before departure.

Do I need canoeing experience?

Yes. This is remote wilderness travel with variable weather, portages and potentially hazardous rapids. Each crew needs appropriate paddling, navigation, rescue and backcountry skills. It is not an introductory guided course.

Can a church group or a nonreligious group book?

Both are welcome. Basecamp Outfitters is open to the general public, including friends, families, men's groups, churches and other private crews. Participation in ministry activities is not required.

Are campsites reserved?

No. Waterway campsites are generally first-come, first-served. No specific overnight campsite is promised, and the six-night map planner is only a planning aid.

What's included in the price?

The proposed package centers on canoe outfitting, equipment and transportation logistics. The exact equipment inventory, meals, fees and other inclusions will be itemized in writing before a customer commits to payment.

How do reservations and payments work?

Review proposed dates on the expedition calendar. Only departures explicitly opened by Basecamp can accept reservation inquiries. Availability, final inclusions and payment instructions must be confirmed before any funds are sent.

What happens if conditions change?

Water levels, weather, road access and operational readiness can require changes. Final cancellation, postponement and refund terms must be provided and accepted before payment.
